Roche Diagnostics Accu-Chek SmartGuide users to transition to mySugr app

People using Roche's Accu-Chek SmartGuide continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system will begin transitioning to the mySugr app from July 7, bringing glucose data, predictive insights and diabetes management tools together within a single platform.

The move follows Roche Diagnostics' integration of the Accu-Chek SmartGuide and Accu-Chek SmartGuide Predict apps into the mySugr app – which now has more than seven million registered accounts worldwide.

For healthcare professionals, the change has no impact on how the Accu-Chek SmartGuide CGM system works or access to individuals' data through the Accu-Chek Care platform. Historical CGM data, glucose patterns and reports will continue to be available for clinical review as they are today.

People using the Accu-Chek SmartGuide CGM will be advised to switch to the mySugr app when starting their next sensor following July 7. Following the transition period, newly activated Accu-Chek SmartGuide sensors will pair exclusively with the mySugr app.

The migration has been designed to be straightforward, with people downloading the mySugr app and signing in using their existing Accu-Chek account. Up to 30 days of historical CGM data will automatically transfer into the new app.

The integrated platform retains all existing Accu-Chek SmartGuide functionality, including real-time CGM readings, predictive glucose insights, patterns and alerts. In addition, people using the CGM gain access to mySugr's broader diabetes management features, including meal, activity and health tracking, photo-based food logging and integration with compatible blood glucose meters and other connected devices.

Craig Jones, Product Manager at Roche Diagnostics UK & Ireland, said: "We're incredibly excited to bring together Accu-Chek SmartGuide and mySugr. Managing diabetes is a constant balancing act and no one should have to juggle multiple tools to make sense of their health.

“By combining our predictive CGM technology with an app trusted by more than seven million users, we're making it easier for people living with diabetes to see the bigger picture, understand their health data and make everyday decisions with greater confidence."

The integration received CE Mark approval last year, with Roche describing it as part of its strategy to provide more comprehensive digital diabetes management. The Accu-Chek SmartGuide CGM system combines continuous glucose monitoring with AI-enabled predictive technology capable of forecasting glucose levels up to 30 minutes, two hours ahead and overnight for up to seven hours, helping people living with diabetes take preventative action before hypoglycaemia or hyperglycaemia occurs.

Roche has produced a step-by-step guide to support the transition, which healthcare professionals are encouraged to share with people using the Accu-Chek SmartGuide CGM system.

The Accu-Chek SmartGuide CGM solution is intended for adults aged 18 years and over living with diabetes.
