New Diabetes Pharmacist of the Year Award launched

Diabetes Nursing Awards 2026 anticipates that the event will receive sponsorship from pharmaceutical and medical technology companies. Entries are still open for the Diabetes Nursing Awards 2026, with organisers unveiling a new Diabetes Pharmacist of the Year Award in response to feedback from healthcare professionals about the vital role pharmacists play in diabetes care.

The awards, organised by Orange Juice Communications, celebrate the dedication, innovation and impact of healthcare professionals improving the lives of people living with diabetes.

New for 2026 is the Diabetes Pharmacist of the Year Award, introduced in response to feedback from healthcare professionals who highlighted the vital role pharmacists play in diabetes care.

The award recognises pharmacists who have made an outstanding contribution to the care and support of people living with diabetes through their expertise in medicines optimisation, education and collaborative working within multidisciplinary teams. 

The Diabetes Nursing Awards honour excellence in clinical practice, leadership, research and innovation, while also providing a valuable platform for healthcare professionals to share best practice and inspire improvements in diabetes care across the UK.

Entry to the awards is free, and all finalists will receive complimentary attendance at the awards ceremony along with up to three healthcare professional guests.

Entries close at midnight on Friday 17 April 2026, with finalists set to be announced in May. The awards will culminate in a celebratory dinner and ceremony hosted by Dr Sarah Jarvis MBE at The Orchard Hotel & Restaurant on Friday 10 July 2026.

Award categories for 2026 include Community DSN of the Year, Inpatient DSN of the Year, Innovation Award, Diabetes Technology Nursing Award, Diabetes Educator of the Year, Excellence Award, Research Project of the Year, Rising Star Award and the new Diabetes Pharmacist of the Year Award.

Healthcare professionals working in diabetes care are encouraged to submit entries or nominate colleagues whose work is making a real difference to people living with diabetes.
