Registrations are now open for the highly anticipated Joint British Diabetes Societies for Inpatient Care (JBDS-IP) Conference 2026, set to take place on Friday 3 July 2026 at The Grand Hotel Leicester.
The conference will highlight the latest innovations, research and developments in inpatient diabetes care, providing delegates with valuable insights into best practice and emerging trends.
This year’s conference will bring together leading experts and healthcare professionals from across the diabetes multidisciplinary team.
Dr Omar Mustafa, Chair, JBDS-IP, said: “The JBDS-IP Conference continues to play a vital role in supporting healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care.
“Aimed at healthcare professionals working within and linked to the diabetes multidisciplinary teams, the event is designed to support improvements in inpatient care and service delivery.”
In a new development for 2026, the event will be preceded by the inaugural meeting of the Diabetes Inpatient Study Group (DISG), a newly formed reference group of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD). This is a small, closed meeting taking place on the evening of Thursday 2 July in Leicester.
If places become available for this, JBDS delegates who are interested in contributing will be informed.
Please register your interest for this meeting here.
Professor Gerry Rayman, Chair, DISG, said: “DISG is committed to advancing inpatient diabetes care through international collaboration, research and innovation.
“We are delighted to be working with JBDS-IP on this important conference, which provides a valuable platform to share knowledge, strengthen partnerships and drive improvements in care for people living with diabetes in hospital settings.”
“With the International Diabetes Federation also now beginning to develop inpatient diabetes guidelines, the importance of improving care for this vulnerable population is gaining greater recognition around the world. There is no doubt that JBDS-IP is partly responsible for this.”
Conference attendees will have the opportunity to learn how to develop and deliver accredited inpatient diabetes services, apply the latest guidelines in clinical practice and better manage the complex challenges associated with treating people living with diabetes in hospital environments.
JBDS-IP is also inviting delegates to submit abstracts to share innovations and interventions in inpatient diabetes care. Submissions are welcomed not only for successful initiatives but also for projects that have experienced setbacks or challenges, offering valuable opportunities for shared learning and service improvement.
With expert speakers and a forward-looking programme, the conference is expected to play a key role in shaping the future of inpatient diabetes care in the UK and beyond.
