Funding opportunities announced to support diabetes research and professional development
The Trustees of the Novo Nordisk UK Research Foundation (NNUKRF) and the Diabetes Care Trust are encouraging diabetes healthcare professionals to apply for a series of funding opportunities now open for applications.
A Research Fellowship worth up to £300,000 is available for healthcare professionals working in diabetes who wish to undertake a PhD. Jointly funded with the Association of British Clinical Diabetologists (ABCD), the fellowship supports three years of full-time study. Applications close on 7 January 2026.
The Foundation is also inviting applicants to apply for small research project grants in diabetes, offering up to £12,000 to support innovative work in the field. These grants are solely funded by NNUKRF, and the deadline for submissions is 12 December 2025.
A third scheme – Fund Awards – is aimed at diabetes nurses and healthcare professionals allied to medicine. These awards offer up to £5,000 to support attendance at national or international conferences (with preference given to those presenting work), educational activities and clinical projects that advance diabetes care. The deadline for Fund Awards is 23 January.
All awards are competitive and must be based within the UK.
