Hypo Awareness Week is back from the 6 to 12 October 2025, bringing together registered healthcare professionals from across the UK and Ireland to highlight the dangers of hypoglycaemia.

Every year, thousands of people living with diabetes experience hypoglycaemia or “hypos”, when blood glucose levels fall too low. Without prompt recognition and treatment, hypos can lead to serious complications and even become life-threatening.

Last year nearly 400 healthcare sites took part in Hypo Awareness Week, running impactful local campaigns to raise knowledge and improve care standards across primary and secondary care.

Hypoglycaemia remains a significant concern for people living with diabetes and for those admitted to hospital, where it is linked with higher rates of complications and poorer outcomes.

Emily Mayhew, event manger said: “Hypo Awareness Week offers an essential platform for all healthcare professionals involved in diabetes care to come together and learn

“By registering, you’ll play a vital role in helping colleagues recognise and respond to hypos quickly, ensuring safer care for people living with diabetes in all settings.”

As part of the campaign free printed and digital resources are available to all registered sites to help teams plan and deliver local campaigns. To sign up just complete the form linked below:
